Award-winning Stories
As the associate editor of Arizona Wildlife Views magazine, Julie writes feature articles about wildlife and outdoor recreation. These articles have won top awards from the Outdoor Writers Association of America and the Association for Conservation Information.
In her most recently published article, "Humpback Haven," Julie explored the Little Colorado River with biologists studying endangered native fishes. She wrote and took photos for the article, which was published in the September-October issue. For the March-April issue, Julie is writing about the link between buying shade-grown coffee and conserving bird habitat.

Julie is also a freelance writer. Her personal essay "Nature Girl" appeared in the November 2009 issue of Skirt! magazine. Another personal essay, "The Love List," was published in an anthology in 2009. Her travel essay "Leaning Left Above the Eiger," another excerpt from her unpublished travel memoir, won a gold Solas award from Travelers' Tales.
