Award-winning Stories

As the associate editor of Arizona Wildlife Views magazine, Julie writes feature articles about wildlife and outdoor recreation. She's earned top awards from the Outdoor Writers Association of America and the Association for Conservation Information.

Recently published articles covered topics as diverse as the link between buying shade-grown coffee and conserving bird habitat, an introduction to birdwatching, and a native fish called the Gila topminnow that turns out to be just as good at eating mosquitoes as the much-touted (and nonnative) mosquito fish.

Some of Julie's past articles are available here:

Julie is also a freelance writer. Her personal essay "Nature Girl" appeared in the November 2009 issue of Skirt! magazine. Another personal essay, "The Love List," was published in an anthology in 2009. Her travel essay "Leaning Left Above the Eiger," another excerpt from her unpublished travel memoir, won a gold Solas award from Travelers' Tales.

Thank you for visiting! Enjoy the journey.
